Today’s Scripture:
Matthew 17:1-9 NIV
Lectionary Response Prayer:
God of the covenant,
The cloud of your splendor and the fire of your love
Revealed your Son on the mountain heights.
Transform our lives in his image,
Write your law of love on our hearts,
And make us prophets of your glory,
That we may lead others into your presence. Amen.

Community Questions
1. Walter Brueggemann describes 3 seasons of faith that we often find ourselves in. He writes: “I suggest… that our life of faith consists in moving with God in terms of: (a) being securely oriented; (b) being painfully disoriented; and (c) being surprisingly reoriented.” Do any of these seasons of faith describe where you are? Have you ever found yourself in a season of disorientation in your faith?
2. Jesus revealed his glory to Peter in what may have been one of the spiritual low points of his life – and it reoriented his understanding of Jesus. How has Jesus met you in your low points, fears, and failures? How was your faith different on the other side?
