JOIN US FOR WORSHIP
Worship isn’t about performance; it’s about participation.
This Worship Guide serves as a weekly resource as we join in singing, praying, and celebrating the work God is doing in our community.
Whether you’re at the Lyric Theatre or tuning into our live stream, we’re so glad you are joining us!
Let’s jump in.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. Strangers will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards. And you will be called priests of the Lord, you will be named ministers of our God.
Isaiah 61:1-6a NIV
PRAYING TOGETHER
GROWING TOGETHER IN COMMUNITY
Start your time together by having a few people share where they’ve seen God at work in their lives throughout the week.
God is not contained to a service or a building. We want to live with the expectation that God is present and at work in the everyday stuff of our lives. We listen, join him in his work, and share stories of how he’s moving!
Talk It Over
1. Because what God does through us He also does in us, we have to pay attention to what is taking place within us. How aware are you day to day with your inner spiritual reality? What might you do to become more aware?
2. The mission of God in our lives isn’t about adding to an already busy life, but being intentional with the life we already have. What are some of the ordinary places in your life God might be calling you on mission?
Practice:
Pay Attention. Mission starts with God, who is already present and at work all around us. And because that mission is moving through the everyday stuff of our lives, our job is to discern what God is doing… and join Him! This week, ask God to open your eyes to opportunities to join Him in your job, school, neighborhood – wherever you are – and join Him!
NEXT STEPS AND RESOURCES
Moving into the fall, we’re renewing our commitment to discipleship in community. We’re thrilled to have our leaders being trained and equipped to be and make disciples. Each of our 7 “Anchors” in our current series are based on the 7 Axioms our leaders are learning (written by Ben Sternke and Matt Tebbe).
