JOIN US FOR WORSHIP

Worship isn’t about performance; it’s about participation.

This Worship Guide serves as a weekly resource as we join in singing, praying, and celebrating the work God is doing in our community.

Whether you’re at the Lyric Theatre or tuning into our live stream, we’re so glad you are joining us!

Let’s jump in.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Matthew 7:24-27 NIV

PRAYING TOGETHER

Key Thoughts:

We don’t think our way into a new way of living. We live our way into a new way of thinking.”

Henri Nouwen

GROWING TOGETHER IN COMMUNITY

Start your time together by having a few people share where they’ve seen God at work in their lives throughout the week.

God is not contained to a service or a building. We want to live with the expectation that God is present and at work in the everyday stuff of our lives. We listen, join him in his work, and share stories of how he’s moving!

Talk It Over

1. Take a look at James 1:22-25 – a passage very similar to our primary text this week. James presents the Word as a mirror in which we see who we really are – and not practicing what we read and hear as forgetting who we are. Can you share about a time when the Bible has served as a mirror to help you see yourself more clearly?

2. It’s not a matter of if. the storms come in our lives, but when. Over the last 20 months, we’ve lived through the storm of a global pandemic, and our lives have been shaken and upended in so many ways. What has the last couple of years revealed about your spiritual health? How can you better see what you’ve built your life upon?

Practice:

Spiritual Practice Assessment. As we come to the end of the year, we’re reassessing how we move being hearing into practicing the way of Jesus. Visit restorationlex.com/practice to see our Core Practices as a Church and download the spiritual practice assessment to help you process where there may be areas for growth.

NEXT STEPS AND RESOURCES

Moving into the fall, we’re renewing our commitment to discipleship in community. We’re thrilled to have our leaders being trained and equipped to be and make disciples. Each of our 7 “Anchors” in our current series are based on the 7 Axioms our leaders are learning (written by Ben Sternke and Matt Tebbe).
