JOIN US FOR WORSHIP

Worship isn’t about performance; it’s about participation.

This Worship Guide serves as a weekly resource as we join in singing, praying, and celebrating the work God is doing in our community.

Whether you’re at the Lyric Theatre or tuning into our live stream, we’re so glad you are joining us!

Let’s jump in.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran. When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”

Genesis 28:10-17 NIV

PRAYING TOGETHER

Father,

You are always present and at work,
But too often we live as if you’re absent.
Give me eyes to see You in the ordinary,
mundane places I take for granted,
and in the people I often overlook.
May I live this week present to the God
who is already present to me.

Amen.

GROWING TOGETHER IN COMMUNITY

Start your time together by having a few people share where they’ve seen God at work in their lives throughout the week.

God is not contained to a service or a building. We want to live with the expectation that God is present and at work in the everyday stuff of our lives. We listen, join him in his work, and share stories of how he’s moving!

Talk It Over

1. In what areas of your life is it easiest to recognize God’s presence and work?

2. In what area of your life is it most difficult to perceive and believe that God is present and at work?

Practice: In Genesis 28:16, Jacob proclaims, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” This week, pay attention to to the presence of God in the places you tend to overlook. It’s never a question of whether God is present, but rather whether we are. Slow down, be still, and as you see His presence and work, celebrate it!

NEXT STEPS AND RESOURCES

Moving into the fall, we’re renewing our commitment to discipleship in community. We’re thrilled to have our leaders being trained and equipped to be and make disciples. Each of our 7 “Anchors” in our current series are based on the 7 Axioms our leaders are learning (written by Ben Sternke and Matt Tebbe).
