This past Sunday, we got to hear from Kelly Gore and Dr. Melinda more about how we, as people of faith, can respond to suicide. Below you’ll find a link to the podcast, Scripture, and some important resources as you engage this difficult topic. As followers of Jesus, we want to love our neighbors well – especially as they walk through darkness. Check it out!

and saves the crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18

Next Step Questions

When you hear about topics like mental health and suicide, how do you typically understand them in regards to matters of faith? How have they been presented to you before?

Henri Nouwen says that “In our own woundedness, we become a source of life to others.” How has someone’s vulnerability about their own struggles given your strength and encouragement?

Psalm 34:18 says “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” In the same way, is there anyone in your life God might be calling you to “be near” to in their time of brokenness and need?
