This past Sunday, we continued our “Friended” series by tackling a tough subject: conflict. As followers of Jesus, the way we handle conflict is a direct reflection of our understanding of the Gospel. As reconcilers and bridge builders, it’s one of the primary ways we display Jesus to the world. Check out the podcast, Scripture, and community questions to help you take the next steps!

Community Questions:

We all handle conflict in different ways – often impacted by the way we saw it dealt with in our childhood. Some of us run toward it, while some run away -fast! How do you respond to conflict? How did you see conflict handled while growing up?

Romans 12:18 says “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” What role does this verse give us in dealing with conflict? What should we do in order to ensure we’ve done all we can to bring reconciliation?

Helen LaKelly Hunt tells us that “Conflict is growth trying to happen.” If this is true, how does this change your perspective facing the conflicts in our own life? What growth do you think God wants to bring through what you are currently facing?

Put In Practice

This is where the rubber meets the road. Where is there currently conflict or division in your life? Have you done everything you can – “as far as it depends on you” – to bring reconciliation? If not, follow the conflict roadmap and seek peace where there is conflict. You can do it!
