This past Sunday, we continued our Friended series by talking about communication. Communication issues can derail any relationship, and as followers of Jesus, we recognize that we’re called to use our words to build up, not tear down. Below you’ll find links to the podcast, Scripture, and community questions for you to talk over with friends! Check it out!

Community Questions:

Whether positive or negative, the words that are spoken to us have the power to stick around for a long time – even shaping us for the future. Can you think of a time in your past when someone said something to you -good or bad – that’s stuck with you still today?

James 1 says “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” Part of learning to be a good friend is being a good listener. What do you think makes a good listener? Who has modeled being a good listener to you?

Encouragement literally means to give courage. In all of our lives, we are facing battles which require us to move forward with courage and faith. Be honest – what battles are you facing right now? Where do you need courage to take the next step?

Put In Practice

Everyone needs encouragement. Your words have the power to shape people for better or worse. This week, pay close attention to those around you. Intentionally encourage 3 people. We suggest trying 2 people in our church and one who is not. Watch how your words make a difference!
